Henry Inlander (6)

Inlander was fascinated with windows. Many of his paintings use windows to reflect on human vision, how we see and what moves us. This window/portrait was created in a studio he had in a beautiful part of Anticoli. It burned down in the 1970’s. There is a small piazza named after Inlander in the village, which fondly remembers him as “Diavolo” or the devil for the many years he spent there. He was a man with an outsized and intense personality. People still talk about him even though he died in 1983.
